Sunan al-Tirmidhi, also called Jami' al-Tirmidhi, is one of the six canonical hadith collections in Sunni Islam. It was compiled by Imam Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa al-Tirmidhi (824-892 CE) and contains approximately 3,956 hadith.
Tirmidhi's collection is unique because he systematically classified each hadith by its strength (sahih, hasan, da'if) and often mentioned the different schools of law's positions on the topic in question. This makes the work an invaluable reference for comparative Islamic jurisprudence.
In "Abwab al-Salah" (The Chapters of Prayer), al-Tirmidhi includes important narrations about the virtues of prayer, including the famous hadith: "The first thing a person will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is in order, the rest of his deeds will be in order."
